Heritage Series 2 - Greenock Power

These works form a very successful series which was created for the Christmas Exhibition 2009 at the McLean Museum and Art Gallery, Greenock. They are on a heritage theme and each of the three pieces is based one one of three towns of Inverclyde - Greenock, Port Glasgow, and Gourock. Each piece shows how the towns have evolved over the years to modern times.

Greenock Power illustrates the towns rich maritime and industrial heritage ranging from the engineer James Watt - who refined the steam engine that powered the Industrial Revolution - to the container cranes at the Clydeport Ocean Terminal of today.

Beyond the Age of Sail. This work illustrates Gourocks history which has been closely linked to the story of the Firth of Clyde providing a safe and secure anchorage spanning hundreds of years. The work is based on the Gourock Coat of Arms and Motto - Avant and be Watchful

This work illustrates timeless people looking out through the window of The Ropeworks towards Port Glasgows magnificent doric portico Town Buildings and watched over by the lion of Hoods Well sitting above the Timber Ponds. The Rope Works today have been regenerated into luxury loft apartments.
